Who is the admin?
Fallen and Caynidae share equal power on Contention's Secret. They are literally both "the admin." Please do not PM the account with the username of "admin," as it is rarely checked. If you have a question or need to get ahold of one of us, pick an admin and send her a PM on her personal account.
What is the point of Contention?
The goal of Contention's Secret is for one Kingdom to rule all the Island. Your Empire can do it alone, or build an alliance to assist them. Fighting is a big part of Contention, so if you are not comfortable with one on one fights and warfare, this may not be the site for you.
Do rulers have to be stallions, or can a queen rule a kingdom and a mare run a herd?
Rulers can be either a mare or a stallion. However, in times of challenge, a stallion automatically starts with a couple extra points in his favor if his opponent is female.
What is the word-count minimum?
Because Contention's Secret is considered intermediate-advanced in terms of role-play ability, we do ask that you put at least 200 words in every IC post. Falling short, on occasion, is acceptable provided you don't make a habit of doing so. Coding and OOC notes do not qualify toward this goal.
Where did my thread go?
That depends. If it was a thread that was no longer active (has not been posted in within 1 month) or a finished IC thread, then it was moved to the Archives. If the thread was an abandoned character bio (not updated within the previous 7 days), it was moved to the Wastelands, a sub-board within the creation board.
Do the sub-boards in a Kingdom's territories automatically belong to that kingdom?
No, they do not. They can be claimed by anyone, even Loners, as long as the requirements are met.
I found something wonky with the site; what do I do?
If a link doesn't work, something hasn't been updated, there is a grammar mistake in an important thread, or basically anything like that, PM CAYNIDAE. If you simply have a question, the CBox is a great place to start. If there isn't anyone online who can help you, PM either of the admins.

Character Creation
What do I need to buy to create my character's appearance?
Absolutely nothing! All appearances are a go. As long as the character can still be identified as a horse, it works. Horns, wings, unnatural markings, strange colors, extra limbs, lion tails, a second head, etc. are all perfectly acceptable.
Do empires have certain personality traits or looks?
Nope! Your character may look or act however you want and be placed in whichever kingdom you desire!
How many characters may I have?
As many as you can keep active. Note: we consider "active" as one in-character post per month.
Do characters require their own accounts?
Yes, they do. This is to keep everything looking nice and each character is easily identified. Accepted characters get a member group with a color depicting which kingdom they belong to. If you are put off by having to switch accounts, remember that in the bottom right corner of your window (when you are logged in), there is a button depicting two people and a couple of arrows. Clicking it will allow you to switch between your accounts with ease.

Stealing
Where is the stealing board?
There isn't one! See "Stealing" in the Rules.
My character was stolen, what can I do?
The character can challenge his/her captor for freedom or work out some sort of deal. You can see if the character's King, Leader, or mate will step in on his/her behalf and challenge the captor for your character. Or you can buy the item that guarantees freedom from captivity in the store. There is no magical time period you can wait for your character to suddenly be free.

Challenging
Can I challenge a king and steal his throne?
Absolutely! However there are certain qualifications that your horse must meet. See "Challenging" in the Rules.
